This film spoke to me for two reasons

I was a college student during the time depicted in this film, and I vividly remember how naive many young women were about how manipulative, scheming, and dangerous some men can be. I’m lucky nothing happened to me, because I certainly took some risks in situations where I should have known better. And then when something like a sex crime happened to a young woman, law enforcement didn’t always take it seriously. They often thought the girl was asking for it because, for example, she was walking alone at night in a short skirt.
Meet Zovatto and scary AF
The film’s pacing is deliberate and intense, shifting back and forth between time frames and victims. At first I found it a little annoying, but in the end it all made sense. I thought Anna Kendrick and Daniel Sovatto played their roles very well. A few things are fictionalized, of course, I’m not sure how much. I did some reading on Rodney Alcala, and the way he was arrested is essentially correct.
