American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)

Chronology

It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her exceptional mind helps her solve a crime while sorting through evidence as a police cleaner. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of mysteries, Morgan commits a series of basic legal errors that anyone who has ever watched a legal TV show cannot make.

Nor can it be used to obtain other evidence—a violation of the «fruit of the poisonous tree» legal doctrine

In the first episode, for example, he obtains a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s lawyer’s office that would never be admissible in court—illegally obtained evidence. Part 2 reminds you to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and part 3 removes all documented evidence from the police, completely breaking the chain of custody and making anything removed no longer admissible in court.

A remake of HPI (2021)

I loved, loved, loved the original. I don’t expect this to be the same (for god’s sake, the original was French, with an amazing cast, and that certainly added to the show’s flavor and frenetic pace).

This version certainly has a lot of potential

That said, the concept and stories with great potential are solid (assuming they tell the same stories), so I’ll give the US version a shot, certainly with more episodes and let the characters own it. I’m hoping that by the end of the season it’s as good as the original or close to it, even if it’s a little different, and Kaitlin isn’t the incredible Audrey Fleurot (but who is?).
