A24 saw the script and greenlit the film before production on «X» had even wrapped

Chronology

In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to shoot an adult film on a rural Texas farm, but when their reclusive, older hosts catch them in the act, the crew finds themselves fighting for their lives. The day after X (2022)’s «South by Southwest» premiere, writer/director Ti West announced that he had written a prequel, Pearl (2022), during a mandatory two-week COVID-19 quarantine in his New Zealand hotel before production could begin on that film). He asked star Mia Goth if she wanted to stay in New Zealand and shoot «Pearl,» and she readily accepted.

The prequel was later released in 2022. When Lorraine enters the basement and turns on the light, there is a modern halogen lightbulb, with no opening credits. The title does not appear onscreen until the end.

It’s literally the entire movie

I can’t deal with movies full of characters who just run around without any instinct whatsoever, doing the absolute dumbest things they could possibly want before they get murdered. The «action and gore» theme is actually pretty harmless.
